Ambiance

The Italian features a dimly lit dining room with candles on each table, making for a romantic evening out. This place is perfect for date night.

Food

The food at the Italian has been amazing every time we have visited so far. There is a simple one-page menu that features pastas, pizzas, and other Italian dishes. While their pizzas are good, the pastas are amazing; I highly recommend the Forest Mushroom pasta.

Service

We have experienced some of the highest levels of service that we have ever experienced at any restaurant. The staff members at The Italian always greet you with a smile and provide top notch service. The Italian Osteria is in our top 5 restaurants all time. I highly recommended that you try The Italian!

Ambiance

Founded by retired BC Lions player Primo Vallanueva, Primos is a cozy and comfortable little place with an amazing view of the ocean. With a relaxed atmosphere, you don’t need to go dressed to the nines. Inside the restaurant, you will find cool Mexican décor.

Food

We have visited Primos 5 times since we discovered this little gem, all I can say is that I have never had a disappointing meal. The food is always fresh, delicious, and authentic. Primos has been serving up traditional family recipes since 1959 and was the first Mexican restaurant to open in Canada. I highly recommend that you try my favourite dish, the steak chimichanga; it is amazing!

Service

We have experienced nothing but great service at Primos. The staff is always very friendly and attentive to their customers needs. During our last visit, the owner (Mr. Joel Villanueva), personally shook my hand thanked us for coming in. Now that is what I call customer service!!

The Carvery Sandwich Shop

Ambiance

Chill and laid-back atmosphere buzzing with customers. The shop is filled with décor that gives it a rustic, country look.

Food

The Soups and sandwiches are made with fresh local ingredients. Everything we have ever tried at The Carvery has been amazing and exceeded our expectations. They have a daily special that is posted on their Instagram page @thecarverysandwichshop

I have tried almost every sandwich on the menu and not even one has let me down. My recommendation would be my favorite sandwich, The Porchetta.

Service

As you walk up to the counter and order your food, you will be greeted by the friendly staff at The Carvery Sandwich Shop. After you order, your food will be brought to your table. The owner of The Carvery is super friendly dude and can often be seen interacting with customers.

Ambiance

The Hawthorne is a relatively small restaurant filled with rustic décor. Inside the restaurant, you will find a cozy dining room on the left and a small bar area on the right. The Hawthorne has a laid-back western feel to it which fits perfectly with the Cloverdale setting.

Food

In terms of food and drinks, The Hawthorne is one of our favorites; we had the Market Burger and Baja Fish Tacos. The Baja Fish Tacos from The Hawthorne are in my top 5 that I’ve ever had in the lower mainland (a list that includes Tacofino).

As a starter, I recommend you get an order of the Market Wings. My favourite is a combination of the Sriracha IPA and the Garlic Honey.

In terms of beer, my favorite is the Hawthorne IPA. The Hawthorne has a large collection of different types of beer; they also have flights of beer so you can try different kinds and find your favorite.

Service

We have been to The Hawthorne on many occasions and the service has been good every time; no complaints so far. During peak hours, there can be bit of a wait to get in since the place is small. Even during the busy times of the day, our servers have always stayed on top of things. Overall, I highly recommend The Hawthorne if you’re looking for a chill place to get some great beer and tasty food in Cloverdale.

Ambiance

Located right behind the Gassy Jack statue in the heart of Gastown, Six Acres is a cozy little Pub serving tasty food and drinks. Once inside, you will find the original brick walls of one of the oldest buildings in Vancouver; a building that dates to the birth of Gastown. Six Acres is a great place to visit with friends for some drinks and food to share.

Food

Six Acres is the perfect place to go with a bunch of friends to socialize while enjoying share plates and fantastic drinks. We had the Mac & Cheese, Cheddar Corn Fritters, Gorgonzola Hot Pot, and the Grilled Beef Short ribs. In addition to many different share plates, the menu also features dinner plates and desserts.

Service

Overall, we found the service at Six Acres to be good. We were seated quickly, and our server was always nearby when needed. Our food didn’t take too long and everything was as expected.
